The Origins
Gatehouse Gin was born from the expertise of Tony Reeman-Clark, founder of Strathearn Distillery — Scotland’s original craft spirits distillery. Known for handcrafted, small-batch spirits, his passion and precision helped shape the smooth, flavour-rich character of Gatehouse Gin. The development process explored a variety of botanicals, from rosehips to gooseberries, before settling on a distinctive recipe. Today, the gin is made with carefully selected ingredients grown in the Estate’s own orchard and botanical garden.

To keep Gatehouse Gin truly rooted in its surroundings, a dedicated botanical garden has been established on the grounds of Duchally Hotel & Country Estate . Here, juniper, gooseberries and apple trees thrive, forming the heart of this handcrafted Scottish gin. With plans to expand the garden to include additional botanicals, as well as plum and apple orchards, the Estate continues to grow its commitment to local, home-grown ingredients.
Set within 27 acres of private parkland, Duchally Hotel & Country Estate provides the perfect setting for the creation of Gatehouse Gin, with juniper bushes grown right on site. Inspired by the Estate’s dedication to local flavours, the gin reflects the same commitment to quality found at Monteaths Restaurant, where fresh, regional ingredients take centre stage. You can enjoy a perfectly poured Gatehouse Gin at The Gatehouse Bar, proudly featured alongside a curated selection of fine Scottish whiskies.
